Thinking I'll have to go through the pain of just re-installing the packages and files I really need. This is what I get for using Migration Assistant too many times! Lots of cleanup required. And get this: If I open and close an existing file from the Finder without changing or saving it, it will thereafter refuse to launch from the Finder. Pages (6.3.1) documents won't open, either. And it's not just MS Office apps if I try to open a JPEG file with Preview that way, I get the same problem. PDF files seem to work okay at least, every one that I have tried has worked (with Acrobat Reader). ![]() I can create a brand-new document (I tried this with an Excel spreadsheet), save it, close Excel, then try to reopen it by double-clicking the spreadsheet file, but it fails this same way (but opens fine using File > Open). If I launch the associated app manually and open the file from inside of it, the file opens fine. But there is nothing wrong with the file. For many (but not all) data files, when I double-click the file (document, spreadsheet, JPEG, etc.), I get the message, "" is damaged and can’t be opened. ![]() I'm seeing a number of strange behaviors. ![]()
